My work celebrates colour, inspired by colour itself being the medium and the subject matter simultaneously. I wanted to use colour as a live material, one in constant flux that’s ever changing so that way it can really celebrate its being. I experimented with sandwiching coloured inks between two sheets of acetate. The smooth non-porous plastic surface provides an environment that slows down the drying process of the ink and encourages it to spread and merge freeing forming endless idiosyncratic patterns. It creates a malleable form that can be manipulated by applying pressure on specific areas. Photographically I kept a record of all the different states of fluidity enhancing what could be seen with a light box.
